Q: Tell us about your personal and professional background. Also, what drew you to Camp Fire Central Oregon?
A: With an academic background in math, science, and engineering, I bring a blend of analytical thinking and hands-on experience to my work with young people. I hold a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and have experience working with disadvantaged youth, teaching math and science, and supporting programs that help students build confidence, curiosity, and problem-solving skills. My experience in sustainable engineering has also deepened my commitment to environmental responsibility and the importance of helping youth connect with the world around them.
Q: What drew you to Camp Fire Central Oregon?
A: What drew me to Camp Fire Central Oregon is how strongly its mission aligns with my values. Camp Fire creates inclusive, equitable spaces where all young people can explore, grow, and discover their sparks. I’m inspired by the focus on nature-based learning, community building, and whole-child development. It feels like the ideal place to bring together my technical background, my teaching experience, and my passion for empowering youth to thrive.
Q: Describe your role for Camp Fire Afterschool?
A: In my role with Camp Fire, I serve in South County as an Afterschool Program Site Lead, Playworks Recess Coach, and part of the South County Outreach team, working to create safe, inclusive, and engaging environments for youth across the region. I design and lead hands-on activities that support social–emotional growth, encourage curiosity, and help students build confidence, whether during afterschool programs or on the playground through structured, inclusive Playworks games. Through my outreach work, I also collaborate with schools, families, and community partners to help ensure Camp Fire programs are accessible, well-supported, and strongly connected to the needs of South County, helping youth and families feel welcomed, resourced, and involved.
Q: What are your sparks?
A: I live for adventure and chasing new experiences wherever I can find them. Whether I’m carving down snowy slopes, hiking rugged trails, backpacking through Oregon, diving into the depths on a SCUBA trip, or paddling across a river in a kayak, I love pushing my limits and seeing the world from new angles. Traveling excites me, and I can’t wait to discover more landscapes, cultures, and wild adventures that keep life feeling big and full of possibility.
Q: What are some of your personal & professional goals?
A: Professionally, I strive to make a lasting impact on young people through mentorship, education, and program leadership, while strengthening community connections and promoting environmental stewardship. I also hope to continue applying my math, science, and engineering background to create engaging, hands-on learning experiences and to grow in leadership roles that allow me to guide teams and design programs that empower youth and strengthen communities. My personal goal is to travel more so I can understand the world from different perspectives.
Q: What’s your favorite part of working with youth?
A: My favorite part of working with youth is seeing that magical moment when they realize just how incredible they are. I love watching their eyes light up with excitement and curiosity as they dive into something that sparks their imagination, challenges them, or makes them feel proud of what they can do.
Q: Why does your job—and Camp Fire—matter?
A: Being a site lead at Camp Fire is so important because I have the privilege of shaping the next generation. Every day, I get to create a safe, supportive, and engaging environment where young people can explore, take risks, and discover their strengths. I love seeing them chase their curiosity, tackle new challenges, and light up with excitement when they realize what they’re capable of. Being part of these moments is incredibly rewarding. It’s not just about the programs we run; it’s about empowering each young person to see their own potential and helping them grow into the amazing individuals I know they are.
