Programs

We've been helping Central Oregon youth find their sparks for over 100 years.

Our programs combine elements of outdoor adventure, leadership and service. We help kids of all ages find their sparks, develop a growth mindset, learn goal management, take time to reflect, and thrive. Explore all we have to offer by program or by age group:

After School Programs

Camp Fire Afterschool | Grades K-5

Grow and learn after school with fresh, engaging activities. Flexible schedule each quarter. Offered 1 to 5 days a week at Amity Creek Elementary and Bend International School.

Project Good Earth | 4th-8th Grades

Jump in the Camp Fire van for ExplOregon field trips rooted in environmental awareness, appreciation and preservation. Bend & Sisters locations.

 

Robotics Level One | Grades 2-3 and 4-6

For youth with no robotics experience. Campers build a LEGO robot and use motors and sensors to program it to perform tasks. Learn problem-solving, get creative, explore new ideas, and have fun!

 

FIRST® LEGO® League | Grades 4-7

For youth with previous experience with robotics. Join a team to create a functional robot and innovation project to compete in a regional competition. Once a week for 10 weeks in Bend and Redmond.

No School Day Programs

No School Days | Grades K-5

Turn a "day off" into a day of creativity and fun while growing new skills and making friends. On most Bend-LaPine School District days off.

Nature Chronicles | 4th-5th Grades

Get outdoors and learn about local streams, geology, and human history while building a deeper connection with nature and yourself.

Programs for Grades K-5

Programs available to youth in kindergarten through 5th grade include:

  • Camp Fire Afterschool | K-5th grades
    Offered 5 days a week at Amity Creek Elementary and, starting Fall 2023, at Bend International School.
  • No School Days | K-5th grades
    Offered when Bend/La Pine students are out of school.
  • Robotics | Grades 2 through 7
    Sessions are once a week for 3 to 10 weeks.
  • ExplOregon | K-5th grades
    Nature-based, outdoor education programs, often including field trips. Offered after school and in summer.
  • Babysitter Training | 5th-8th grades
    Several Saturday sessions during the school year to learn essential babysitting skills. Certificate of completion.

Programs for Grades 6-12

Programs available for youth in grades 6 through 12:

  • Teen Connects | 6th-12th Grades
    Service projects and fun outings for teens looking for volunteer experience. Free or low cost programs throughout the year where teens can make a difference and make friends!
  • Robotics | 2nd-7th Grades
    Afterschool and summer tech programs engage youth in problem solving, getting creative, and exploring new ideas, and having fun. From introductory robotics and coding clubs to FIRST LEGO League competitive teams.
  • Teen Service & Leadership Summer Programs | 7th-12th Grades
    From week-long Service Challenges to Junior Counselor and CIT programs, Camp Fire’s teen summer programs are all about giving back, building leadership skills, and having a blast while doing so!
  • Teens in Action Club | 6th-12th Grades
    It's time for teens to team up to rock their community! Through this club, we work together to brainstorm the needs, create the goals and plans, then take action to roll them out, one service project and smile at a time!
  • Babysitter Training | 5th-8th grades
    Several Saturday sessions during the school year to learn essential babysitting skills. Certificate of completion.

Special Events

One-off outdoor programs, Kids Night Out, community events, outreach and more!  We’re always brewing up something fun for Central Oregon youth. Stay tuned for new events and activities like Kids Night Out, a fun evening of games, activities, crafts and dinner, offered by Camp Fire staff and volunteer babysitters who are trained and certified by Camp Fire.

Summer Programs

SummerKids | Grades K-12

Designed for working families, SummerKids weekly camps give your child a place to feel creative, secure and empowered. Weekly themes and great indoor and outdoor spaces all summer long. Leadership programs for 7th-9th graders and Junior Counselor programs for 9th-12th graders.

Teen Service & Leadership | Grades 7-12

From week-long Service Challenges to Junior Counselor and CIT programs, Camp Fire’s teen summer programs are all about giving back, building leadership skills, and having a blast while doing so! 

Tumalo Day Camp | PreK-12th Grade

A fun, unique and unforgettable experience for kids in beautiful Tumalo State Park. Tumalo Day Camp is a group outdoor learning experience that lets kids share joy and responsibility while making new, lasting friendships. Counselor in Training opportunities for 8th-12th graders.

Summer Robotics Camps | Grades 2-6

Campers learn to solve problems, get creative, explore new ideas, and have fun! Through robotics and coding, these tech camps build important life skills, instill confidence, and help youth find their sparks.

ExplOregon Summer Camps | Grades 1-6

Youth in 1st through 6th grade can join Camp Fire Central Oregon for a fun week of summer camp in the outdoors. ExplOregon camps are designed to bring engaging opportunities for youth in rural areas to get outdoors and learn about local streams, geology, and human history while building a deeper connection with nature and themselves.

Low cost options and financial assistance are available for all of our programs!

Camp Fire Central Oregon has a long history of providing financial assistance to families in need. We strive to make all of our programs available to as many youth as possible, regardless of the ability to pay.

We recommend applying for assistance far in advance of the programs you are interested in attending, as funds are limited. Programs are open to all and we do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, national origin, ethnicity, physical challenges, or sexual orientation.
