Babysitter Training

Whether you are gearing up to take care of siblings or thinking of making a little extra cash as a babysitter, you won't want to miss this educational and hands-on learning experience.

Youth in 5th-8th grades learn important babysitting skills, including: basic child care, first aid and safety measures, engaging games and activities to play with young children, as well as some food preparation skills. Participants learn job ethics and how to present themselves in a professional manner. Upon successful completion of the course, each participant heads home with:

Life-long skills
A babysitting resume
A certificate of completion
Opportunities for babysitting experience at Kids Night Out events

* This training does NOT include pediatric CPR training or certification which can be obtained through the American Red Cross and other providers.

Already Certified? Gain Immediate Experience, Volunteer Babysitting at Kids Night Out!

Kids Night Out provide an opportunity for Camp Fire Certified Babysitters (Grades 5-11) to gain in the trenches experience in babysitting and leadership, volunteering at these Friday night events, offered at select times during our Fall, Winter and Spring season. Our Certified Babysitters are asked to volunteer from 5-8:30 p.m., as this is a fundraiser for our teen programs. During this time, Camp Fire staff will be on hand to provide structure and guidance for teen babysitters, who will help support kids ages 4-11, playing games, coordinating a simple meal, assisting with prep, activities and light clean up. This is a great resume builder from the standpoint of both gaining experience working with you but also volunteering to give back to Camp Fire and the community!

Camp Fire also occasionally calls for babysitters for events hosted by community partners, proving our babysitters further opportunities to gain valuable skills under the guidance of our staff. Looking to Hire a Certified Babysitter? We’ve Got a Solution for You!

We’ve had a lot of Camp Fire families reach out lately, looking to hire some of our amazing Certified Camp Fire Babysitters. To protect the privacy of our participants, it’s our policy not to give out youth/teen information. However, to connect families with our certified babysitters who would like babysitting gigs, we’ve created the “Babysitter Connection” tool, a Google form that families can fill out if they’re interested in hiring a babysitter. The babysitters are then given a QR code that they can scan to take them to the information input by families. The babysitters can then reach out to the interested families and book gigs at their convenience. If you would like to hire one of Camp Fire’s certified babysitters, Get started, using this form.

Please note, the Google list generated by the Google form is provided only to Camp Fire certified babysitters who have taken Camp Fire’s certified babysitter course. Parents/guardians are fully responsible for vetting any babysitters hired from this form and Camp Fire does not assume any responsibility on behalf of either sitters hired or those hiring Camp Fire certified sitters.

Cancellation and Non-Refundable Fee

Because we schedule staff, invest in supplies, and plan for expenses based upon the number of youth we are expecting, we must adhere to our cancellation policies.

Most of our fee-based programs require a $10-25 non-refundable fee at registration (unless specifically noted in the program description).

Registration Policies

Don't wait to register! High-quality youth programs are in high demand and Camp Fire programs are kept small to ensure a great adult:youth ratio and create the best learning experience possible. That means space is limited and many sessions sell out quickly. If the program is sold out, please add yourself to the waitlist.
