FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Join the Fun This Saturday at Camp Fire Central Oregon's FREE Autumn Family Faire in Bend—All Ages Welcome, Volunteers Needed!
Youth Development Organization Calls for Community Volunteers.
Bend, Ore, October 21, 2024 –The countdown has started for Camp Fire Central Oregon’s 3rd Annual Autumn Family Faire, taking place this Saturday, Oct. 26, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Troy Field in Bend. This is not your ordinary day out—it's a community-powered, super-fun celebration of youth and everything to love about autumn, including a perfect chance to wear those creative costumes, too!
With free entry, attendees can enjoy a whole lineup of fall-inspired games, crafts, entertainment, food vendors, STEM activities, Camp Fire partners, a photo booth, and seriously awesome raffle prizes. Raffle tickets for various goodies and gift cards will benefit school-year programs and summer camps offered by Camp Fire, the inclusive youth development organization that’s been serving Central Oregon kids since 1916.
And new this year: Camp Fire Afterschool program displays featuring homemade crafts and other projects made by actual Camp Fire kids. Of note, the crafts and projects will showcase examples of what’s being cultivated during Lights On Afterschool, a nationwide event taking place October 24 and celebrating afterschool programs and their important role in the lives of children, families and communities.
“Without a doubt, our afterschool youth are bright lights, bringing so much creativity, imagination and enthusiasm to all the activities we provide,” says Kia Lo, one of Camp Fire Central Oregon’s afterschool coordinators. “We’re excited to offer this showcase of skills and sparks, which captures a sampling of their amazing talent, the enrichment Camp Fire offers kids, and, importantly, how vital programs like Camp Fire Afterschool are to the Central Oregon youth they serve.”
With so much fun planned for Saturday, it’s not too late to volunteer for the Autumn Family Faire. Camp Fire is on the lookout for both teen and adult volunteers to bring their energy and excitement to this incredible day, with plenty of ways to get involved, signing up for one or more shifts.
“We're thrilled to have the community's incredible support for this event," says Zafiro Larsen, Camp Fire Central Oregon's program manager and lead organizer of the faire. "Our volunteers are the heart of this celebration, making all the magic possible. We can't wait to see everyone come together this year! Whether you plan to sign up to volunteer or come to all the festivities, please save the date for this Saturday, and let's make this the best Autumn Family Faire yet!"
