Light a Spark – Meet Max!
At Camp Fire, we’re all about helping youth find, explore, and develop their sparks. Sparks are the things that make you come alive! The things that excite you, give you energy, motivation, and purpose. We wanted to share the story of one of our new Camp Fire members who’s spark we’ve seen ignite and grow bright over the past year.
Max joined our Outing Club last spring as a 6th grader and quickly became a regular at our Teen Service Days and summer programs. His enthusiasm and awesome attitude makes all of us here at Camp Fire excited for what we do. But don’t take our word for it!
We chatted with Max last week about his Camp Fire experience and here is what he had to say:
What is your spark?
“Learning and giving back!”
How does participating in Camp Fire make you feel?
“It makes me feel like I’m part of something bigger, like I can be helping the environment and knowing there are thousands of other kids in Camp Fire in other places doing the same. I feel good every time I do something with Camp Fire. I feel like I’m doing my part in this world.”
If you were telling a friend about Camp Fire, how would you describe it?
“A place where learning is developed in a fun way and where every single one of the leaders is enjoyable to talk to and you feel like you can talk to them about anything that you want.”
What makes you want to keep coming back to our programs?
“All the people! Just getting to meet new people and feeling excited to see the staff and be able to work with you guys over and over. You guys are always making it fun!”
Why do you think it is important that all kids get the opportunity to participate in Camp Fire?
“Because you make a difference and make so many friends. People who might find it hard to make friends at school, like me, are able to easily make friends at Camp Fire. I still think about the kids I was with in all the programs!”
