Camp Fire offers a variety of opportunities for youth to increase their tech fluency while having fun at the same time. For many youth, robotics and coding are naturally engaging first steps to bridge the gap from being a tech consumer to developing the skills to understand and participate in how the technology actually works.
While we use robotics and coding as forums to build tangible skills in technology, we also focus on social emotional skills to build confidence, practice collaboration and teamwork, and develop critical thinking and creativity in problem solving.
Join the LEGO Robotics Team, learn how to build and code with LEGO Robots and be part of this season's FIRST Lego League Tournaments!
This fall, we will be exploring the FIRST LEGO League’s new competition, “SuperPowered” using LEGO Education robots. Youth will learn basic engineering, building, and programming skills, along with time management, teamwork, project design, and disaster mitigation (what to do if your robot completely falls apart? It has happened before!). These programs are sure to build important life skills, instill confidence, and help kids find their sparks.
This 10-week after-school Lego Robotics Team is designed for youth who are committed to participating in the regional First Lego League competition here in Bend (date TBA, but probably in December).
- Play games that introduce coding principles
- Learn how to program with the Lego Education software
- Work in teams to customize robots
- Complete missions
- Design and present an innovation project
