Earth Day Poetry Slam: Celebrate the Planet with Your Words!
Calling all young poets, rappers, and creators of the spoken word! Celebrate Earth Day with us through the power of words! We’re inviting K-12 students to write and share their creativity and passion for our planet by participating in our Earth Day Poetry Slam event. This is your opportunity to submit your original piece of writing to express your love for nature, concern for the environment, and hopes for the future through the power of poetry. Whether you’re inspired by the beauty of nature, your favorite outdoor spot, or your personal commitment to protecting the planet, let your creativity shine!

Event Highlights:
Who Can Participate: Students K-12 are invited to submit original pieces.
Theme: Celebrate the Earth! Topics can include nature, climate change, wildlife, recycling, sustainability, or your favorite outdoor memories.
Performance Options: Participants can perform solo or as a group. Poems can be serious, funny, heartfelt, or inspirational—your voice, your way!
Judging and Prizes: A panel of judges will recognize outstanding submissions in each age group, with prizes for creativity, delivery, and message.
Community and Fun: Cheer on your friends, family, and peers as they share their voices in a supportive and inspiring environment.
Email Submission: Email your poems in a PDF format to camp@campfireco.org with the subject line “Poetry Contest.”
Hard Copy Drop-Off: Deliver a printed copy of your poem to the back gate of Amity Creek Elementary between 2:00 PM - 5:30 PM, Monday to Friday. Please call our staff upon arrival, and someone will come out to receive your submission.
Submission Requirements:
Deadline: All poems must be submitted by April 1st. Late submissions will not be considered.
Poem Format: Each poem should be saved as an individual PDF document.
Anonymity:Do NOT include your name on the poem itself.
Contact Information: Include your name, phone number, and email in the body of your email or on a separate cover page (if submitting a hard copy).
Eligibility:
Open to Oregon-based poets only.
Winner Announcement & Performance Opportunity:
Winners will be announced on April 10th.
Winning poets will be invited to perform their poetry at Silver Moon Brewing on April 20th during our Camp Fire Bingo event!
