Camp Fire Robotics

Camp Fire’s STEAM programs are all about problem solving, getting creative, exploring new ideas, and having fun!

From introductory robotics and coding to environmental engineering, these programs build important life skills, instill confidence, and help kids find their sparks.

Ecology Engineers | Grades 3-6

Where engineering meets ecology! Join Camp Fire Central Oregon to explore the science behind our local ecosystems through field trips and hands-on environmental exploration. Together, we’ll use our collective knowledge to tackle real-world challenges and discover how technology helps our local environments thrive.

DATES: September 25 - December 11 (no meetings 10/30 and 11/27)

Participants will explore their Central Oregon backyard through two distinct themes.

  • Fire Ecology Investigate the vital role of fire in our ecosystem, then discover how engineering solutions help environments adapt before, during, and after wildfires.
  • Flora & Fauna Get out in nature to find local plants and wildlife, then learn about innovative technology designed to help species survive and thrive.

TIME: 9 am - 2:00 pm

LOCATION: Meet at Camp Fire's Office, Sunlight Solar Building, 150 NE Hawthorne Ave., Bend OR 97701

This program is field trip based and mostly outdoors. Please dress appropriately for the weather.

Robotics| Grades 1-6

Camp Fire's Robotics programs are designed for youth with little to no experience in robotics or coding. Using LEGO® Education software, youth will learn the basics of coding while exploring how motors and sensors work together to make their creations move, spin, and react.

DATES: September 21 - December 14 (no meeting on 11/23)

Participants will design, build, and test LEGO® robots that are inspired by two distinct themes, encouraging creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork.

  • Amusement Park - Build and program robots that complete fun, park-themed challenges, and bring your amusement park ideas to life!
  • Rocket Scientists - Build and test robots inspired by rockets, space exploration, and launch missions. Think like a real rocket scientist to complete space-themed challenges!

TIME:

Grades 1 -3 | Mornings: 9 am - 11:30 am

Grades 4-6 | Afternoons: 12:30 pm - 3 pm

LOCATION: Ensworth Elementary School, 2150 NE Daggett Ln, Bend, OR 97701

We strive to make all of our programs available to as many youth as possible, regardless of the ability to pay.

Learn about and apply for Financial Assistance.

Because we schedule staff, invest in supplies, and plan for expenses based upon the number of youth we are expecting, we must adhere to our cancellation policies.

Most of our fee-based programs require a $10-25 non-refundable fee at registration (unless specifically noted in the program description).

More about cancellation policies.

Don't wait to register! High-quality youth programs are in high demand and Camp Fire programs are kept small to ensure a great adult:youth ratio and create the best learning experience possible. That means space is limited and many sessions sell out quickly. If the program is sold out, please add yourself to the waitlist.
