A message from the Bend-La Pine School District:
We have partnered with Camp Fire Central Oregon to provide an after-school care option for the remainder of the 2024-2025 school year. Camp Fire has a reputation for providing an exceptional program in which your child will receive positive connections with caring adults and enrichment activities to strengthen your child’s inquiring mind. Camp Fire is already providing after school care in some of our schools and knows exactly what it takes to build a successful program.
As excited as we are to get going, it will still take time to get families signed up, funding secured, and staff hired and trained to start new programs. For families at La Pine and Rosland Elementary there will be a disruption in service from the time HUB ends on Friday, October 18 to when Camp Fire Afterschool can start. For Three Rivers families, Camp Fire will send out a separate communication about how to enroll your youth immediately in our current program as soon as October 21st.
Thanks to our generous community partners, we will be able to offer afterschool programs in South County at prices equivalent to what families were paying for HUB. Check out our pricing calculator to estimate how much your monthly payments will be based on your schedule.
Camp Fire Afterschool (CFA) is a flexible and fun option for families looking to balance afterschool care with enrichment opportunities and social-emotional skill development. CFA supports youth in exploring their sparks, practicing social skills, creating connections, building community, and gaining confidence. Whether exploring art, science, community or culture – each day of the week features a fun and enriching theme.

We appreciate the reality of scheduling around parent work schedules and youth activities, so Camp Fire Afterschool sessions are priced per day-of-the-week with Fall, Winter and Spring sessions to match Bend-La Pine Schools' quarterly calendar.
Because we know that many families participate in different activities or have different afterschool needs based on the season, we offer the flexibility to sign up for three separate sessions throughout the school year.
September 9 – December 20
January 6 – March 21
April 1 – June 6
The daily themes are the same for both locations. And while the daily themes remain the same in fall, winter, and spring sessions, the experiences from session to session will be fresh.
Mondays: DIY Kids!
During DIY Kids on Mondays, youth will engage with fun, exciting projects that will spark creativity, artistic expression, and a sense of self.
Tuesdays: Science Club
Science Club is a STEM-minded (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) day where youth can choose to join a friendly robotics competition throughout the session or complete science experiments after school! STEM through demonstrations, hands-on experiments, and inventions.
Wednesdays: Community Kids
Connect to the outdoors, to others, and to yourself with walking field trips to learn about nature and how we can give back to the community. (Camp Fire’s mission is to help with that!)
Thursdays: Adulting 101
Designed to encourage independence and build confidence, youth will learn a multitude of skills that apply to everyday life!
Fridays: Game Day
This is a community-focused activity day where youth will be able to choose from among many different types of game play throughout the session, including board games, group games, various sports, and more!
We strive to make all of our programs available to as many youth as possible, regardless of the ability to pay.
We have subsidized the South County Afterschool programs as a way to extend financial assistance to everyone, though we do have some limited funds to support further assistance as needed. You can pre-apply or apply during registration. If you are awarded additional FA, you will get a discount code to apply to your sessions. *Assistance is based on household size and income and requires income documentation to be eligible. A good metric to know if you would qualify is if the adults and children in the household qualify for OHP Plus - this is a preferred document to use as income documentation, though there are other options as well if needed.Because we schedule staff, invest in supplies, and plan for expenses based upon the number of youth we are expecting, we must adhere to our cancellation policies.
Most of our fee-based programs require a $10-25 non-refundable fee at registration (unless specifically noted in the program description).
Don't wait to register! High-quality youth programs are in high demand and Camp Fire programs are kept small to ensure a great adult:youth ratio and create the best learning experience possible. That means space is limited and many sessions sell out quickly. If the program is sold out, please add yourself to the waitlist.

We are ready to help, but we can’t do it alone. We need your support to make after-school care affordable for all families, especially those in need of financial assistance.
