REGISTRATION IS OPEN FOR SUMMER ROBOTICS CAMPS!

2019/20 After School Program

We are excited to announce Camp Fire Afterschool at Amity Creek, our new K-5 after school program for the 2019/20 school year!

Camp Fire Afterschool is a flexible and fun option for families looking to balance afterschool care with opportunities for growth, enrichment programs, and intentional emphasis on developing social-emotional skills.

Our afterschool program will run 5 days a week throughout the school year. Each day will have a Sparks enrichment option and a Rec open-play option.  In our Sparks program, Camp Fire Afterschool offers themed enrichment for K-2nd and 3rd-5th grades everyday.  The Rec option is for those looking to participate in less structured, choice-based, mixed-ages activities with flexible pick up times. In each program, we support youth in exploring their sparks, practicing social skills, creating connections, building community, and gaining confidence. For a 5-day a week program, we highly recommend you try some of each!

All Camp Fire Afterschool programs meet weekly for six-seven week sessions and thread Camp Fire's research based Thrive{ology} approach to youth development together over the year.  Registration is by the day of the week for all programs for the six-seven week sessions.  Participants may sign up for one day a week or multiple days.

Financial Assistance is available. Please do not wait to register if you need financial assistance. You will be able to complete your registration while your request is being processed. If you do not receive assistance, or the amount you do receive does not meet your needs, you will have the opportunity to cancel your reservation at no cost to you.

WHAT:

Sparks:

Over the course of the year, we will offer a variety of options to allow youth to discover new things and perhaps find a new spark!

Some general descriptions of themes for the first session or potential themes in the future are:

Service Learning - Youth will participate in various service learning projects that incorporate youth voice and choice into being an active contributing member of the community.

Skills and Makers - Youth may be engaging in cooking, sewing, toy making, or other makers activities...all while learning some new skills and getting creative.

Nature Based/Outdoor Learning - Youth will learn about nature and the outdoors, with a chance for experiential learning as they explore topics related to nature in Central Oregon. Wildfire awareness, gardening, stream ecology, or other topics will keep the youth active while inspiring them to think about and interact with nature. Some days may include field trips.

Performing Arts - Youth will have an opportunity to get creative and explore aspects of performing arts, whether it be singing, dancing, comedy, or theater. Activities and roles will be chosen based on participants' interests and a final performance at the end of the session may be coordinated.

Visual Arts - Youth will participate in visual art creation. Projects may include drawing, painting, collage, and 3-D creations.

STE(a)M - Youth will participate in project-based learning that incorporates Science, Technology, Engineering, art, and Math.

Tech - Youth will learn experientially about circuits and electricity, energy, robotics (through cubelets), doodle bots, or beginner programming.

Spanish - Youth will learn Spanish through play: songs, games, and fun projects. Learning Spanish will be exciting and fun in this very active format.

Rec:

Our Rec program is a flexible, open-ended opportunity afterschool for youth to play games, get creative, and have fun.

HOW MUCH:

Prices will vary based on programs, options, and the length of the session.

  • Sparks programs will cost $15 per weekly meeting ($25 on Wednesdays)
  • Rec programs will cost $10 per weekly meeting ($15 on Wednesdays)
  • Extended care is $4 per weekly meeting

*Please note, the cost of the program is not charged by the meeting, but rather by the session. Session lengths vary by the day and time of year from 5-7 meetings based on the planned 2019-2020 school calendar. These variations will be reflected in the price for each session. Unexpected school cancelations that shorten a session will not change the price of the session.
